The Encourager: 21 Questions
Updated: Jan 18
FOCUS: FAITH... Let's continue talking about it... "WHY don't I have "it" yet? I've been consistent, so what's going on? I've been patient, but it seems like God isn't listening to me. Have I done something wrong? Have I not done enough?" These are some of the questions we may ask ourselves from time to time in our waiting. These questions will definitely challenge our faith and cause it to seem as if we are standing on shaky ground.
SCRIPTURE: James 4:3 says, "Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts."
POINT OF VIEW: Asking amiss is simply asking with a selfish intent, with an ill-motive, or with the wrong desire. Sometimes when we go to God about a thing, we can be so needy that we don't seek Him about His will for us concerning that thing. There is such a fine line that we don't always realize when we are dancing on it. Our sight can definitely be faulty. I am a witness of that. My view was so distorted concerning a thing, a relationship actually. It wasn't until I began studying the Word that God unveiled how selfish my plea was. This moment was hard, yet it was the so freeing and necessary for me to get on the right track. Don't be afraid to get shifted and redirected concerning a matter that is dear to you. Consult God; He will not steer you wrong.
DID YOU KNOW: THE answer to your question(s) is not going to always be "you asked amiss". This is just a reminder to dive into the Word of God and simply re-evaluate the questions and petitions you have before God. This is a great way to gain renewed peace in the midst of your waiting, and to humble yourself as you seek God again. As you wait in expectation of the manifestation of your prayer, trust and believe God hears you. He will give you the desires of your heart, if you delight yourself in Him. It is important that we learn to line our heart's desires up with His will. 🛑Don't be dismayed with the "21 Questions" you can't seem to stop asking. You are not the only one rehearsing them. Keep the faith. Keep believing. Keep trusting. Keep moving. Be Humble. Be confident in the Word of God and in the Word God has over your life. You are more than a conqueror!!
