The Encourager: My Yes...But Not My Ability

Updated: Feb 21, 2023

My yes is not predicated upon anything more than God’s ability to carry me...upon nothing more than what He said about me.

Life can get crazy; my favorite thing to point out…haha God’s Word over our lives can get a little fuzzy and blurred out. Life’s happenings can cause us to simply forget or seem like His Word is so far beyond us and out of our reach. But, this is the biggest lie and misconception. The enemy is after the unshakable Word that is spoken and set in place over our lives. God doesn't make any mistakes. The enemy cannot win. The enemy will knock us off track with false truths. He wants to make what happened to him happen to us, but with God as our strength…he will fail every time. Hallelujah!

When we say yes to God, we cannot say yes because of our own ability to succeed. I was reminded of that this weekend. Glory be to God! God is faithful to His own…and most importantly to His will and what He has said about us. He cannot lie. Hallelujah!

I was reminded of the scripture Philippians 3:7-14 https://bible.com/bible/1/php.3.7-14.KJV… focusing on verse 14. It says, “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Our yes have to be “the press”. We cannot give up because, following Christ Jesus' example, He did not give up. Yet…He asked God for strength when He felt like He could not go on. In The University, School of Intercession and Arts, https://www.theuniversityclt.com/ (shameless plug), we were asked a question, “If you were a battery, what would be your percentage today?” The numbers varied and if each person weren't being honest with ourselves, we would have put a high number so others wouldn't judge or think one was weak. I battled with my percentage to get a clear and real number because...hey... this was sunday evening when I got to the post. Of course, I should’ve had a high percentage after being in the house of God and hearing the preached Word of God, and worshiping and praising God with my church family. The truth of the matter is that my number was low. God is simply carrying me right now and I am okay with that. What blessed my heart is that while my number is low my faith is high, and God makes up what's remaining of the 100%. He makes the number whole. Hallelujah!

Our yes must be renewed multiple times a day because things will continue to happen. So this is where my statement comes from: “My yes is not predicated upon anything more than God’s ability to carry me...upon nothing more than what He said about me.” I know the place I am in is not pretty, but I don’t depend on my ability. I trust God. I trust God to show me me…I trust God to heal me. I trust God to continue to wrap me in His love. I trust God to mold me and shape me into the vessel He has created me to be. I will not depend on my ability to keep my yes; we can't. …but I will depend on His ability to help me stand in the face of adversity. I was encouraged after the benediction to remain steadfast. Hallelujah. I will with the help of my Savior.  If God said it concerning me… I believe it. I trust that! I trust the unfailing and unadulterated Word of God! Hallelujah!

So today, I admonish you to stay steadfast in your walk with Christ. Trust more and more in God’s ability to keep you. Trust more and more in God’s Word over your life! You are not a failure though you have failed. You are not incompetent. You are not destroyed. You are not your worst thoughts concerning you! You are royalty. You are strong. You are loved. You are persistent because you haven't stopped yet. You are cared for. You are special. You are unique, and you are necessary! You are wanted and needed! You are beautiful and you are blessed!

"...Press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus"! Trust God in all things and pray always. He wants to hear from you. He wants to hear your heart. He wants to know what is on your mind. Pour out the very essence of you into God that He may replenish you with fresh water…with new oil. Hallelujah! Our faith must be in our God and Saviour.

Amen.
