The Encourager: Take A Moment

Are you in a place where all you're doing is running around? Moving moving moving...going going going? You take one hat off only to find that you have 5 more that you can't seem to accomplish enough to take just a moment to breathe and recollect?

Today and this month, I pray that you find the time, intentionally make the time, to take a moment to breathe. It is so important that in the hustle and bustle of our daily living that we take a moment. This is something we all know, but fail to take advantage of. We have it on our minds to do and then three months pass us by. Simply because life never handed us the opportunity to take a moment for ourselves. We truly have to be intentional about it.

As believers we have to remember that Jesus took plenty of time for himself to recollect, pray, fast, and to just gain more strength to make it through another time period. We must learn from His example in all things. In those moments of prayer or meditation we can then lay the stresses of life at the throne so that we, too, can make it another set time. I always talk about how much God care about us and the things we're going through. He cares about the things that are concerning us. He gave us a way to release and gain strength all in one shot. As I mentioned before, we just have to be intentional about it. We must. It is vital. Take time to pray, fast, mediate, and rest!

A few scriptures I can leave you with is:

  • Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke unto you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest for your souls: for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

  • Mark 6:30-32 And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught. And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.

  • Luke 5:16 And he withdrew himself into the wilderness (a lonely place) and prayed.

Jesus didn't have a day or a specific time where he took a moment to release and gain strength, but he made it a practice and a part of his daily living to do so. When needed, He rested, he ate, and went into solitude to pray.

Try to have a daily check in with yourself. Maybe wake up a little early to take that moment...or whatever works for you. Let's just try to be intentional about it. 💛
